About
My name is Chef Mark Tafoya, and I’m the owner of SmallBusinessVideo.com. I consider myself very lucky to have turned my passion for food & wine, travel, & videography into a career in cooking and new media.
As co-founder and Executive Producer of Culinary Media Network, I have been making videos for the last 3 years. After making literally hundreds of videos for the Culinary Media Network and for restaurants, and food and beverage clients all over the world, I’m now offering the same service to fellow personal chefs and other small business owners.
I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and went to Yale University. After graduating from Yale with a B.A. in French Literature and Theater Studies, I spent ten years as a New York actor; I was a member of Tony Randall’s National Actor’s Theater, sharing a Broadway stage with George C. Scott, Charles Durning, and Mr. Randall, as well as acting in Independent films.
As a personal chef, I continue to broaden my knowledge base through travel and cultural exchange with other cooks throughout the world. I’m commited to a multicultural approach to life, and embrace the ideal that one of the best ways we can learn to understand, and indeed celebrate each other, is through cuisine. Something as seemingly small as our approach to food can transform the world in ways both small and vast.
I am also President and co-founder of The Gilded Fork, LLC, a new media company I launched in 2006 with my business partner Jennifer Iannolo. The same year, the company launched the Culinary Podcast Network, the world’s first all-food podcast channel, which was later renamed Culinary Media Network, and has received more than 2 million downloads to date.
In addition, we offer consulting and New Media/Social Media strategic services for companies ranging from new media startups to large financial institutions. We also work with restaurant startups and food service businesses to design customized menus.
In recognition of my work as a personal chef and podcaster, I have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Time Out New York, Bon Appetit, The NY Post, USA Today and the New York Times. Our video series CMN Travels, which celebrates foods all over the world, was nominated as a finalist for the Tasty Awards in the JetBlue Best Food Travel Web Series category.
I live in Manhattan with my Miniature Pinscher Stiva.
